Privacy Policy

This is a personal website for the book The Genomic Power Shift, operated by its author. The site is hosted on a server located in the European Union and is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What data this site collects and why

Contact form

The contact form collects your name, email address, reason for contact and any message you choose to send. Submitting the form requires you to tick a consent checkbox confirming you are happy for your details to be stored and used to respond to your enquiry.

Contact form submissions are stored in the website’s database on the EU server. A notification email is sent to the site owner via Brevo, a French email service provider. Your data are not shared with any other third party. It is retained until you request deletion.

Launch List

Launch List sign-ups are handled by Brevo. When you subscribe, your email address is stored by Brevo and used to send you occasional notes about genomics, the book and related topics. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Brevo’s own privacy policy applies to your subscription data. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Early reader interest

If you register your interest in becoming an early reader, your name, email address and any information you choose to share are collected through the contact form and stored in the website’s database on the EU server. The same data-handling rules apply as for contact form submissions above. You will only be contacted about relevant opportunities to provide feedback on selected draft material or receive book updates where you have agreed to them.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use it—for example, which pages are read, how long visits last and what country visitors come from. Google Analytics is only loaded after you explicitly accept cookies via the consent banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, no analytics data are collected.

When analytics is active, data are processed by Google and may be transferred outside the EU under Google’s standard contractual clauses. You can change your cookie preference at any time by clearing your browser’s localStorage for this site.

Translation

This site uses GTranslate, powered by Google Translate, to offer page translations. If you use the language selector, page content may be sent to Google’s servers for translation, and a language preference cookie (googtrans) is set in your browser to remember your choice.

Cookies

This site uses the following cookies:

Your cookie consent choice is stored in your browser’s localStorage (key: gps_cookie_consent). This is not a cookie and cannot be read by any third party.

Server logs

Like all websites, the server automatically records standard access information—including IP addresses, pages requested, browser type and referring website—for security and troubleshooting. The server is located in the EU. Logs are retained briefly and are not linked to any individual identity or shared with third parties.

Spam protection

The site uses spam protection. Form submissions may be checked against spam protection services.

Your rights under GDPR and DPA

If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to access, correct or delete any personal data held about you, to withdraw consent, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact the site owner using the details on the contact page.

You can unsubscribe from launch-list emails at any time using the link in any email. You can request deletion of a contact form submission by emailing the site owner directly.

If you are in the UK, you may raise concerns with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). If you are in the EU, you may contact your national data protection authority.
